Last September 1, 2010 at 3:00 in the afternoon, Academics held another set of language activities – the impromptu speaking and memory game. The speaking activity was participated by five CELI students namely; Olivia (Korean), Naoki (Japanese), Lion (Korean), Mayu (Japanese) and Shan (Vietnamese).
The participants were asked to pick one topic which was written in rolled papers. Their names were called one by one and asked to stand in front to give their responses. Each of them was given 60 seconds for the preparation and another 60 seconds to deliver the response. Although most of the participants admitted that they couldn’t speak English well, they managed to express their opinions confidently.
On the other hand, the memory game was played by 2 teams. Each team was asked to memorize 5 words in 10 seconds, 10 words in 15 seconds and 50 words for 60 seconds. They had to write down as many words as they could remember within the specified time. The purpose of the game is not only to develop students’ English skills but also for the team members to have unity and cooperation.
It was surely a fun-filled activity which enhanced student's memory and conversational skills. These activities boosted their confidence in using English.
The day ended with the proclamation of winners: Mayu for the Extemporaneous Speaking and Team A for Memory Game.
Giving of prizes followed thereafter.

You must experience and accept the extremes. Because if the contrast is lost, you lose appreciation; and when you lose appreciation, you lose the value of everything.

Stress
(n) is the body’s mechanism of rising to a challenge and preparing to meet a tough situation with focus, strength, stamina and alertness
It is both positive and negative. It makes one want to compete and be productive. Anything that’s too much is bad for the health and too much stress makes our body
tired. When this happens, our body becomes weak and we can often get illnesses.
BUT! We do not need to worry about stress. Follow these steps everyday and you can improve your body’s condition every day. These steps will help you increase your
productivity, make you happier and of course healthier.
1. Take a deep breath – breathe in slowly, hold it for a while and then exhale. This will make you more relaxed. Do this 10 times.
2. Move around – take some time off from your desk. This will refresh your mind and set it to refocus.
3. Laugh – do this at any chance you can get, this excites tensions making your task a lot more easy to do
4. Play – play a game that can release your fatigued mind. This takes your mind away from your task for a while, relaxing it for a while. After a few minutes you will
be up and ready to take on more of your task
5. Relax – close your eyes and listen to soothing music or music that you prefer.
6. Imagine – along with relaxation, visualize yourself in a favorite vacation spot. This makes you feel like you just came from a real vacation: fresh and ready to go
